Aviation Skills Partnership opening UK Regional Base in Scotland

We are Aviation Skills Partnership (ASP), an organisation dedicated to making the aviation industry accessible to all. We want to show the world that aviation isn’t just a dream, it can be an aspiration, it can be a tangible goal, it can be just a qualification away. Our manifesto, which explains our mission, has been presented to Parliament.

We’re pleased to announce that we’re opening our third UK regional base: ASP>Scotland on January 13th 2017. This new regional base will cover the whole of Scotland, creating opportunities for young people in the region. It will allow us to continue growing our network of partners and to develop plans for regional Aviation Skills Hubs and International Aviation Academies with our first in Scotland, in Dundee, already announced.

David Winning – one of ASP's Advisory Board Members and Interim Regional Manager ASP > Scotland said: “Whilst using the full support of the wider ASP team and our Richmond, Surrey HQ, we will be growing the team locally to support activity in the Scotland and initially in Dundee. We are excited to work with existing partners and to create new links with local authorities and educational bodies in the region.”

Simon Witts, ASP’s CEO said: “Our whole emphasis has been to achieve the ability to roll out our Aviation Skills Manifesto across the whole of the United Kingdom to everyone from age 8 and up. This new regional base is a further step to achieving just that, and will be closely followed by other announcements about other regions of the UK. I am delighted that David Winning has agreed to lead this as he has a great pedigree and background to play a leading role in planning this expansion.”

ASP> Scotland opens not long after the fourth birthday of ASP. Four years in, we continue to show our commitment to creating and delivering aviation industry led programmes with our partners across the UK and internationally. This follows our expansion into East Anglia in 2016, which saw the beginning of the construction of our International Aviation Academy in Norwich and the South-West.

The new base will open in temporary facilities before we move into a more permanent facility in due course.
